ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine hockey team lost a battle in St. Paul hosting the Saint Mary's University Cardinals for game one of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) series. The Cardinals take home the 1-0 win over the Wildcats despite St. Kate's dominating the shot count.
The lone goal came from Saint Mary's sneaking one past senior goaltender
Elizabeth Kubicek 5:15 into the first period off their second shot of the game.
St. Kate's was unable to do the same with 29 shots in three periods, lead by junior forward
Marie Reimer with six. Kubicek finished the game with 20 saves playing 59 minutes.
Game two of the series with Saint Mary's is Saturday, February 5 at 2 pm in Winona, Minnesota.
