ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team added their seventh win at home to the resume with a 3-0 shut out of the visiting College of St. Scholastica Saints on Saturday. After the conference win, the Wildcats are now 7-2-1 with a MIAC record of 3-2-1.
St. Kate's had a pair of power play goals in the win opening scoring late in the second period from
Kaitlyn Blair. The senior defender's power play goal was assisted by
Lauren Henriksen and
Maiah Robert.
The team's second goal was scored three minutes into the third period while again on the power play. Reimer had help on the goal from
Raechel Painovich and
Joslin Mumm.
The Saints attempted to cut the Wildcats lead pulling their goalie with over eight minutes remaining in the third. Senior
Laura Denchfield took advantage of the open net scoring her sixth goal of the season with Reimer and rookie
Tori Vennemann credited with the assists.
Reimer is second in the conference this season scoring her eighth goal while Denchfield leads the MIAC with 14 points on the season.
Elizabeth Kubicek earned the shut out win in the net for her second of the season making 16 saves in the game.
St. Kate's will travel to Stevens Point, Wis. on Tuesday, December 6 for a non-conference showing against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers. They will return to Drake Arena for their final game of 2022 on Saturday, December 10 at 2 pm.
