ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University soccer team picked up a big Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) win defeating Macalester College 3-1 at St. Kate's Field on Saturday. The Wildcats improve to 7-3-2 with a conference record of 4-1-1 to rank second.
The Wildcats were off to a slow start in the first half giving the Scots the lead in the 17th minute off of their first shot on goal.
The tables quickly turned in the second 45 minutes with St. Kate's firing off 15 shots including ten on net.
Amanda Elton scored her seventh goal of the season knotting up the game at 1-1 20 minutes into the second half off a pass from
Ari Green.
Kallan Tuominen the game-winner in the 72nd minute scrambling up the middle off a feed from
Jessica Bartz.
The Wildcats third and final goal was scored with commotion in front of the net again as rookie
Briana Henaman was in the right place to knock in her fourth of the season.
Ten players registered shots on goal in the game with fifth-year
Sofia Campbell playing a dominating role in the midfield. In 90 minutes on the field, Campbell disrupted multiple opportunities from the Scots turning the contest in favor of the Wildcats.
Kate Praetz and
Kelsey Dugan split time in the net with Praetz starting and allowing the one goal.
St. Kate's travels to Moorhead on Wednesday for a 4 pm game at Concordia College. They return home on Tuesday, October 18 hosting the University of Minnesota Morris at 4 pm.
