WINONA, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team picked up their first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) sweep of the season downing the Saint Mary's University Cardinals on Saturday to improve to 11-5 on the season.
The Wildcats rookie class led the way on Saturday with
Madison Fagan and
Tiff Tellez each tallying nine kills followed by
Liz Rosen with seven.
St. Kate's claimed the first set 25-22 holding the lead from early on in the set. The Wildcats carried the momentum into the second set building a five point cushion throughout the set to claim a 25-26 victory.
Saint Mary's had their best performance in the final set but were still unable to top the Wildcats efforts as they rallied of a nine consecutive points for a 25-21 set win.
St. Catherine returns to action on Friday, October 7 hosting St. Olaf at 7 pm and Hamline on Saturday, October 8 for Mental Health Awareness Day.
