ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Catherine hockey takes their second straight 3-2 overtime loss falling to Augsburg University at Drake Arena cold Friday evening.
St. Kate's came out hot in the first period finding the back of the net five minutes after puck drop.
Laura Denchfield tipped the goal in off a shot from
Sophia Gorski after a pass from
Marie Reimer.
Reimer put the Wildcats up 2-0 less than a minute into the second period while on the power-play from Denchfield. St. Kate's held the two-goal lead until Augsburg scored a power-play goal at 17:23 ending the second up one.
Augsburg knotted the game up five minutes into the third period with both teams only getting five shots off a piece in 20 minutes forcing overtime. The game ended in favor of Auggies scoring with 22 seconds left in the five-minute OT.
Sophomore
Abby Severson was between the pipes making 29 saves.
St. Kate's travels to Minneapolis on Saturday for game two of the MIAC series scheduled for 4 pm.
