ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team opened the fall 2021 season with a 3-0 sweep of non-conference opponent the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Wednesday evening at
Butler Center.
The Wildcats dominated the opening set hammering down a 25-16 victory led by senior outside hitter,
Lauren Isaacson with five kills and three digs.
Rookie
Lexie Petrick recorded three kills in the second set with two digs while senior
Julia Weiler held down the back row defensively with four digs. River Falls challenged St. Kate's in the second set taking a two point lead before the Wildcats were able to turn the momentum back in their favor.
Isaacson rallied together another four kills in the final set bringing her match total to 11 to lead St. Kate's. Petrik,
Bryana Leverentz, and
Lauren Skar each put up three additional kills in the final set taking down the Falcons 25-16 again.
The Wildcats are in Colorado Springs, Colo. playing four matches against Linfield University and the No. 2 ranked Colorado College Tigers. The first match on the road series is Friday, September 3 at 4 pm MST against Linfield followed by a 6 pm MST match vs. the Tigers.
