ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine hockey team dropped the series opener to UW-Superior on a snowy Friday evening in St. Paul. The Wildcats allowed a 5-2 come from behind win for the Yellowjackets, giving up four goals in the third period.
UW-Superior struck quickly getting on the board at 1:04 into the first period.
Sophia Gorski knotted the game up at 19:02 in the second period from sophomore
Abby Pirkl.
Samantha Lackmann gave the Wildcats a one-goal lead at the 14:21 mark with help from
Maiah Robert.
The Yellowjackets tied it again a minute later before converting on back-to-back power-play goals all within one-minute. Their final goal was an empty netter in the final minute of play to seal the win.
The two teams meet again on Saturday in Superior, Wisconsin with puck drop scheduled for 2 pm at Wessman Arena.
