ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine hockey team traveled to Tria Rink in downtown St. Paul to face the Hamline University Pipers on Friday evening. The Pipers edged out the Wildcats claiming game one of the MIAC series with a final of 4-1.
The Pipers struck first tallying their first goal on a power play with over 12:25 left and extended their lead to 2-0 less than a minute later with St. Kate's at full strength.

Abby Pirkl cut the lead at 10:37 for her second goal of the season off a pass from junior
Lindsey Hays.
Hamline scored their third goal at 13:39 in the second period and recorded their final goal on a empty net with 52 seconds remaining in the third.
Abby Severson took the loss making 35 saves in net. The sophomore goaltender ranks second in the league for save percentage at .960. and also for goals-against average at 1.34.
The Wildcats return to Drake Arena on Saturady hosting the Pipers for game two of the series at 2 pm.
