ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Senior defensive specialist
Grace Amacher had a career night on Wednesday becoming the seventh player in program history to record 1,000 digs as the St. Catherine University volleyball team fell to the top-ranked Gustavus Adolphus Gusties in straight sets.
St. Kate's got off to a slow start dropping the first set 25-12 to Gustavus. They turned it around in the second trading the lead with the Gusties but ultimately falling 26-24.
The third and final set started in favor of the Wildcats again before Gustavus rallied back going on a six point run followed by a seven point run to claim the match with a set score of 25-17. Head coach
Todd Nelson said following the match, "We continue to play good volleyball against really good teams. Im proud of the team's efforts and how they continue to compete."
Senior Lauren Issacson tallied 12 digs and five kills plus an ace and three block assists. Senior
Julia Weiler tallied ten digs while Amacher recorded her needed seven digs to reach 1,000. Nelson said, "Grace has made an impact on the St. Kate's volleyball from her very first match. For her to accomplish this milestone is a tribute to her perseverance and the effort she put into finding ways to continually improve. I am very proud of Grace. I'm excited to see what more she and the team will accomplish in the weeks to come."
St. Catherine is home again Saturday hosting Bethel at 7 pm.
