ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Catherine University head dance coach
Alexa Boderman announced six additions to the 2020-21 Wildcat Dance team this week bringing her team total to nine for the upcoming season. The six newcomers include four first-years plus a rising junior and sophomore, as the largest incoming class in the past three seasons.
Boderman, a former Wildcat dancer herself, said, "We are all very excited for the coming season! Fans can expect a new twist to our court routines for halftime, now that our gym has bleachers on both sides, and we're moving in a different direction than in years past with our competition routine. We are excited to see what's in store for the future of the program."
Returning to the team for next season will be rising junior
Mel Swanson, along with rising sophomores
Amie Dusterhoft, and
Alexa Rimer.
The newcomers include Emily Borchardt from Lonsdale, Minnesota, and a former dancer for the Tri-City United High School Black Diamond Dance team. Borchardt also was a dancer at the Center Stage Dance Studio. Anna Harrison from Eden Prairie, Minnesota joins St. Kate's this fall having danced for the Eagles Dance team. Harrison also spent time dancing at the Hopkins Dance Center in Hopkins, Minnesota.
Coming to St. Kate's from Bloomington, Minnesota is Ashley Luhm who was a spent the last season at Concordia University, Chicago where she was a member of the Dazzlers Dance Team. Before Concordia Chicago, Luhm danced in high school at Bloomington Kennedy where she was a member of the Kennedy Kolleens Dance Team.
Adding to the first-year class is Emily Nelson from Wrightstown, Wisconsin. Nelson was a four-year member of the Wrightstown High School Dance Team. Rounding out the group of first-years is Ariana Velishek from Jordan, Minnesota. During her time at Jordan High School, Velishek was a member of the Jaguars Dance team and also danced at the Bauer Fine Arts Academy.
The final addition to the Wildcat Dance Team for the 2020-21 season is rising junior Makinzie Wulf. Wulf, a Burnsville, Minnesota native, graduated from Lakeville South High School where she was a member of the Cougar Dance Team and danced at Danceworks.
Boderman and her team are still finalizing their competition schedule for the 2020-21 season and will release performance dates in the fall.
