Wildcats drop game two against Bennies 3-0

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Catherine hockey team fell to the College of Saint Benedict Bennies 3-0 in game two of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). The conference foes split the series over the weekend with both teams now 2-4 in the MIAC and St. Catherine 5-4 overall. 

Saint Benedict out shot the Wildcats in the first period 19-10 with junior goalie Bryce Boreen making a season-best 19 saves. St. Catherine controlled the second period holding the Bennies to just six attempts as both teams remained scoreless through 40 minutes. 

Five minutes into the third and final period, the Bennies scored their first goal taking the 1-0 lead. Their second goal was scored at 11:39 in the period and their final goal at 18:22. 

Rookie Laura Denchfield led the shot count again in game two with six shots and leads the team this season with 37 and No. 5 in the MIAC. 

St. Catherine is on the road again Friday, December 13 when they travel to Superior, Wisconsin for a MIAC-WIAC series with the University of Wisconsin-Superior at 7 pm at Wessman Arena. St. Catherine will play their final game of 2019 on Saturday, December 14 when they host the Yellowjackets at 2 pm at Drake Arena.
