DULUTH, Minn. - The St. Catherine University track & field team opened the 2019-20 indoor season competing in The Opener hosted by the College of St. Scholastica. Seven athletes traveled to the opening on Saturday afternoon with multiple PR's and the first collegiate competition for three Wildcats.
Junior
Elsie Lundquist was in the finals for the 60-meter hurdles event with a fifth-place time of 9.94. Lundquist came in third place in the high jump finals with a mark of 1.50m and fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.54m.
First-year
Claire Nichols had an impressive debut on Saturday finished in sixth in the long jump finals with a mark of 4.83m ahead of sophomore teammates
Reilee Schepper and
Bryana Leverentz. Schepper's mark of 4.50m was good for a ninth-place finish while Leverentz came in 13th with a PR mark of 4.07m.
Schepper and Leverentz also appeared in the triple jump finals coming in fifth and ninth, respectively. Schepper earned fifth after landing a mark of 10.40m and Leverentz registered her second PR mark of the day at 9.47m.
Alysha Grebner made her shot put debut for the Wildcats making the finals with a mark of 10.85m for sixth place overall.
Junior Ally Thomas had a PR mark in the weight throw at 12.05m. Thomas was ahead of newcomer
Brooke Willmsen in her first collegiate event throwing a mark of 8.73m.
