LA CROSSE, Wis. - The St. Catherine University soccer team's three-game win streak was snapped Sunday afternoon by the Viterbo University V-Hawks in a 2-1 overtime game in La Crosse. St. Kate's is now 10-5 overall after the final non-conference game of the season.
Viterbo was on the board first, scoring a goal in the 25th minute of play holding the lead through the remainder of the half. Senior
Julia Rupp scored the tying goal in the 78th minute for her second of the season. Rupp's goal was assisted by sophomore
Sofia Campbell forcing overtime for the second game in a row.Â
The V-Hawks scored off of a corner kick three minutes into the overtime for the game-winner handing the Wildcats their first non-conference loss since early September when they fell to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse which was also a 2-1 OT game in La Crosse.Â
Sophomore
Emma Watt led the team in shots coming off the bench with two on goal and three total. Rupp along with senior
Marissa Janssen tallied one shot on goal in the game with seniors
Allie Bird and
Amanda Carey recording one apiece. Sophomores
Lauren Witte and
Taylor Johnson also contributed one shot for the Wildcats in the road loss.Â
St. Catherine will travel to Saint Joseph on Saturday, October 26 at 1 pm against the College of Saint Benedict Bennies.Â
