ST. PAUL, MINN. – With less than a month before the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships, the St. Catherine University swimming and diving team is getting hot at just the right time. Last week at the Grinnell Invite, several Wildcats put together their best performances of the season. That trend continued Friday night, as St. Kate's outdueled Macalester 129-114 in the Butler Center Pool.

No one was better than the two Wildcat seniors, who were recognized earlier in the evening. Brooke Soller (Maple Grove, Minn. / Maple Grove) opened the individual races by lapping the field and winning the 1000 freestyle relay with a season best time of 11:53.47. The senior specialist was also spectacular in the 500 freestyle, clocking her second season best time of the night to finish second in the race with a time of 5:39.10.

Jenna Nagy was also superb on her senior night, with wins in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive events. The senior won the 1-meter event by nearly 50 points with a final score of 251.40 and was just as good in the 3-meter board. Nagy's victory of margin in the 3-meter board was over 68 points as she won the event with a final score of 281.80.

The seniors weren't the only Wildcats that found success in the pool Friday evening. Reigning MIAC Athlete-of-the-Week Mary Jane Voss' (Mequon, Wis.) continued to dazzle with multiple wins for St. Kate's. Voss won the 200 freestyle with a season best time of 2:02.01, then enjoyed a minute break before winning the 200 IM with a time of 2:20.07. Voss capped off the night with a win the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:31.93.

Alissa Ellingson (Eagan, Minn. / Eagan) also nabbed a pair of victories for St. Kate's, first in the 50 freestyle then in the 100 breaststroke. Ellingson's 25.39 in the 50 freestyle was a season best and two-tenths faster than the second place finisher, while her time of 1:10.81 in the 100 breaststroke was nearly two seconds faster than her previous season best and just four seconds off the school record.

Ellie Menso's (Barrington, Ill. / Barrington) career season continued in the dual as well. Menso finished third in both the 1000 and 500 freestyle races to earn three points for the Wildcats in the dual. The junior clocked a time of 12:12.35 in the 1000 before shaving six seconds off her previous season-best time in the 500 to finish in third with a time of 5:42.97.

St. Kate's swimmers and divers will be kept plenty busy this weekend. After Friday's dual, the divers will return to the pool at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning to face the University of Minnesota-Morris in a divers-only dual. Then, at 12 p.m., the Wildcat swimmers will return to the Butler Center for a dual against Concordia College. It will be the second time St. Kate's will face the Cobbers this season and will be the Wildcats final home meet of the season.
