Playoffs on the line in Wildcats final match of 2016

ST. PAUL, MINN. – It's crunch time for the St. Catherine University tennis team. The Wildcats play their final regular season match of the season tonight in a dual against the College of Saint Benedict. There is still plenty for St. Kate's to play for. The team is fighting for the final spot in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) post-season tournament and slip into the six spot with a win over the Blazers tonight.

First serve between the Wildcats and Saint Ben's is at 4 p.m. in St. Joseph, Minnesota, and there are five facts you need to know before then:

6 – Both St. Kate's and the Blazers are fighting for the six and final playoff spot for the MIAC tournament. The Wildcats currently hold the edge thanks to a 9-8 overall and 4-5 conference record. Saint Ben's currently holds a 6-10 record and is 3-6 in MIAC play.

2 – Two St. Kate's seniors will be playing in the final regular season dual match of their careers. Mikinzee Salo (Brainerd, Minn. / Brainerd) and Angie Lorenzen's (Mitchell, S.D. / Mitchell) have both made huge impacts on the Wildcats and will be playing in their final regular season match against the Blazers this afternoon. Fellow senior Kylie Ketcho (Eden Prairie, Minn. / Academy of Holy Angels) will also be participating in her final regular season match as a player coach.

208 – Over their careers, Salo and Lorenzen have combined for 208 dual match wins, and both reached milestone win 100 earlier this season. Salo reached the mark on March 23 against Hollins University, while Lorenzen earned career dual win 100 against Bethel two weeks ago.

11 – As doubles partners, Salo and Lorenzen have compiled an 11-4 record this 2016 season, with a 5-4 mark in MIAC play. The duo, who has been the Wildcats No. 1 doubles team all season, is currently riding a two-match win streak and look to close their career with three straight doubles wins.

11 – Salo, Lorenzen, and Ketcho have been named All-MIAC multiple times throughout their careers at St. Kate's. Salo is a four time All-Conference player, twice in singles and twice in doubles play, while Lorenzen in a two time recipient in doubles play. Ketcho was named All-MIAC five times throughout her career, having earned the honor in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
