ST. PETER, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team saw their season come to an end with a 4-0 loss in the MIAC Playoffs to the No. 1 seed Gustavus Adolphus College.
The Wildcats finish with a 16-6 record going 7-3 in conference play sealing the most overall wins in program history with 16, topping the historic 2013 season with 15. The team also achieved their best conference record since the 2022 season when they finished 8-2.Â
The Gusties took the doubles point clinching wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
Ryanna Steinhaus and Marie Pellieter fell at No. 2 6-3 with Melaine Gravdahl and
Liliana Holmberg dropping No. 3 6-1.
Faith Simon and
Ashley King played an unfinished match at No. 1 stopping at 5-4 GAC.Â
In singles play, Gustavus earned their first point at No. 6 singles edging out Gravdahl 6-0, 6-0. Simon dropped the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-0 and then Gusties claimed another point at No. 3 singles defeating Pelletier 6-3, 6-1 to seal the win.Â
Holmberg's match at No. 2 was at 6-2, 5-2 Gustavus while King dropped her first set 6-0 but was ahead 5-2 in the unfinished match. Steinhaus appeared at No. 5 singles with down by a score of 6-3, 5-0 Gusties.Â
