Box Score
With less than three weeks to play in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) season, the St. Catherine basketball team looked to pick up a win against a tough Augsburg College squad.
Despite shooting 43.5 percent from the field as a team, the Wildcats overcome a slow start and suffered a 83-56 loss to the Auggies, Wednesday night in Minneapolis.
The Auggies opened up the first half with a 15-5 run in the first five minutes and shot 50 percent from the field to take an early lead.
The Wildcats shot under 20 percent through the first 20 minutes, but attempted a comeback as they shot 66.7 percent in the second half. The Auggies remained consistent, though, through the second 20 and put a comeback out of reach for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats shot 50 percent from beyond the arc and were led by
Kristen Lee (Dawson, Minn.) who was 4-for-5 from 3-point range. Lee finished the night 5-for-9 with 15 points, a team-high five rebounds and four assists.
Sarah Mong (Page, Ariz.) had a game-high 16 points and shot 50 percent from the field to lead the Wildcats, while
Amanda Padilla (Oxnard, Calif.) had a game-high eight assists to ignite the Wildcat offense.
Cynthia Cowan (Elgin, Texas) added nine points, four boards, two steal and a block, while
Shauna Horsch (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) had eight points and
Mary Neumann (Duluth, Minn.) contributed seven.
The Auggie offense was led by Jill Tichy with 13 points, while Abby Luger scored 12 and pulled in a team-high nine rebounds.
