Hockey rallies to win again

After trailing 4-1, Wildcats prevail 7-6

In a game filled with momentum shifts and lead changes, Coach Marshall's young Wildcats never quit playing hard and rallied to defeat Lindenwood 7-6 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Despite trailing 4-1 early in the second period, St.Kate's used four power play goals to get back into what Marshall called, "one of those crazy games." Team captains Kelsey Abrahamson and Kayla Clafton eached added a power play goal to help sustain the Wildcats rally.

All told eight goals were scored in the second period, including three by the Wildcats in the last 4:11 to cut Lindenwood's lead to 6-5 heading into the second intermission.

For the second night in a row, Kasey Evans led the Wildcats offensive attack. The first year recorded her second hat trick in as many games. Included in Evans scoring barrage was a power play goal at the 7:15 mark in the third to tie the game at six.

After Evans tied the game, Beckly Clifton polished it off. Clifton's first goal of the season put the Wildcats up for good at the 9:12 mark in the third. From there, Haley Morningstar shut out Lindenwood to pick up the first win of her collegiate career.

Box Score.
