It was a beautiful summer-like day as St. Kate's celebrated family weekend with a full slate of home sporting events. The Wildcat cross country team got things off to a fast start. With a large enthusiastic crowd of friends, families, and alums on hand the Wildcats were spurred on to several supurb performances.
Kristina Poss,
Jessica Rogers, and
Sophie Shogren were the first Wildcats across the line, all running smart tactical races and posting solid times. Poss dropped over a minute off her time from the home invite last season, running 15:51 to place 11th. Rogers dropped 30 seconds off her previous time, running 15:54. Shogren ran an all-time personal best in the 4k, crossing the line in 15:54.
Several other Wildcats who enjoyed running the 4k rather than the usual 6k distance included
Stephanie Mueller and
Sarah Howe. Mueller continued to impress in her first season of cross country, running 16:39 to finish 4th for the team. While Howe took approximately 30 seconds off her best time on the home course, running a 16:42 to round out the team's scoring. Senior captain
Heidi Sande was back to her old form after missing last season. She ran 16:52, crossing the line just behind first year
Ashlee Bahlmann (16:50) and just ahead of first year
Julia Johnson (16:53) and senior
Emily Eastman (16:54), who also dropped a full minute from her 4k last season.
