The St. Kate's softball team split their series with Carleton College Monday afternoon, winning game won 5-2 and falling in game two 8-0.

In game one the score remained scoreless through three innings before the Wildcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Kayla Bergerson started the offensive jolt with a double to center field. With Ashley Matthys pinch-running for Bergerson, Ann Schmitz reached first base on a Carleton error and then advanced to second base on a throwing error, which also brought Matthys home for a 1-0 lead. Jenna Clark then singled to left field, scoring Schmitz to extend the lead. Kelsey Luedtke and Heidi Sande each singled, scoring Clark to close the inning with a 3-0 lead.

The Knights scored a run in the fifth and sixth innings to narrow the Wildcat lead to 3-2. But St. Kate's took advantage of two Carleton errors in the top of the seventh inning to seal the victory. A single by Clark scored Schmitz and Cassie Rooney crossed home plate after a fielding error to take the 5-2 win.

Bergerson recorded the win, allowing just 7 hits and 2 runs while recording 3 strike outs in 7 innings of work. Clark went 3 of 4 with 2 RBI and 1 run. Luedtke, Sande, and Bergerson each had 2 hits.

Game two did not go the Wildcats' way as Carleton jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Knights took advantage of St. Kate's errors. Carleton recorded 6 runs for the inning and won the game 8-0.
