BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team fell to No. 33 Carleton College, 7-0, in a MIAC matchup Saturday afternoon at LifeTime Fitness in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Carleton secured the doubles point by sweeping all three doubles matches to open the contest. At No. 1
Faith Simon and
Ashley King were defeated 6-0 while
Marie Pelletier and
Ryanna Steinhaus dropped the No. 2 match 6-2. Lily Holmberg and Melaine Gravdahl battled to a 6-3 decision for the sweep from the Knights.
In singles play, Carleton continued it's strong performancing winning all six matches in straight sets. Simon competed at No. 1 singles falling 6-1, 6-1. Holmberg played at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-2 loss and Pelletier dropped the No. 3 match 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 4, King was defeated 6-2, 6-3, Steinhaus was edged out 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 and Gravdahl fell 6-1, 6-1.
The Wildcats moved to 5-3 overall with a MIAC record of 1-1. Next up for St. Kate's is a three match non-conference series in Florida taking on Trasylvania, Carthage, and Sweet Briar College.
The team returns to conference play on March 21 as they host St. Olaf College at Baseline Tennis Center at 5 pm.
