DULUTH, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team continued their impressive win streak adding a 6-1 conference win on the road at the College of St. Scholastica. St. Kate's improves to 11-3 overall with an MIAC record of 4-1.Â
St. Kate's set the tone early by taking control in doubles action, securing two of the three matches to grab the early lead. The pairing of Faith Simon and Ashley King highlighted the effort with a decisive 6–1 win at No. 1 doubles, while another tight victory at No. 3 doubles helped the Wildcats take a 1-0 advantage heading into singles.
The Wildcats claimed five of the six singles matches, showcasing depth across the lineup. Simon earned a straight-sets win at No. 1 singles (6–3, 6–0), while King followed with a strong performance at No. 4 singles (6–1, 6–4).
Marie Pelletier added another point at No. 3 singles with a 6–2, 6–3 victory, and Ryanna Steinhaus continued her impressive day with a 6–1, 6–2 win at No. 5. Melanie Gravdahl closed out the match in dramatic fashion at No. 6 singles, battling through a third-set tiebreak to secure the final point.
Next up for the Wildcats is another conference road match facing Bethel Univeristy. The match is scheduled for Thursday, April 4 in Arden Hills.Â
