MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team continued it's win streak defeating Saint Mary's University, 7-0 on Friday evening at Baseline Tennis Center. With the win, St. Catherine improves to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in MIAC play.
The Wildcats set the tone early in doubles action, securing the team point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The duo of
Ryanna Steinhaus and
Marie Pelletier controlled played at No. 2 winning 6-2.
Melanie Gravdahl and
Liliana Holmberg followed with a strong showing at No. 3 with a 6-3 win.
Faith Simon and
Ashley King played at No. 1 falling 6-3.
From there, St. Kate's took complete control in singles, sweeping all six matches to seal the victory.
Faith Simon led the way at No. 1 singles with a straight-set win, while Holmberg, Pelletier, Ashley King, and Steinhaus each earned decisive victories in their respective flights. One of the most competitive matches of the night came at No. 6 singles, where Gravdahl battled through a tight three-set match, ultimately prevailing in a super tiebreak to complete the sweep.
Next up for the Wildcats is a MIAC road trip to Duluth facing the College of St. Scholsatica at 5:30 pm at Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
