Swimmers complete day two of MIAC Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University swimming and diving team finished day two of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Swimming & Diving Championships hosted at Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

St. Catherine put swimmers into scoring position across three vents Thursday morning prelims with Olivia Weil leading the way in the 500 freestyle, posting a 5:19.12 to qualify for the evening final. In the 50 freestyle, Ella Hochstetler (24.60) and Jordyn Grotbo (24.63) both advanced to the night session as well. St. Kate's also logged solid finishes throughout the 500 free and 200 individual medley.

In the finals, Weil delivered a fourth place finish in the 500 freestyle scoring 15 points. In the 50 freestyle, St. Kate's picked up more team points behind Hochstetler in 12th at 24.67 and Grotbo in 15th at 24.78. The Wildcats closed out the night with a strong team performances in the 400 medley relay, finishing 6th in 4:02.81 as the quartet of Hochstetler, Weil, Anna Sewich, and Grotbo adding 26 points.
