MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team secured a 6-3 road victory over the Concordia College Cobbers on Friday night at Moorhead Sports Center. St. Kate's improves to 4-7 in conference play before facing the Cobbers again Saturday in Moorhead.
The Wildcats jumped ahead 3-0 in the opening period.
Samantha Bogen opened scoring at 8:13 with an even-strength goal.
Paige Loidolt scored on the power play at 15:23 with help from
Lauren Schmidt and
Paige Fasching and
Isabella Brady added another power player goal at 19:03 from
Ana Myers and
Raechel Painovich to make it 3-0.
Concordia responded with three unanswered to tie it. The Cobbers got one back on a later first period power play goal and pulled even in the second with a short handed goal at 8:23 and an even strength tally at 19:39 to send the game to the third knotted 3-3.
St. Kate's answered right away in the final period when
Halle Dunleavy scored the game-winner at 5:50. Bogen struck again at 6:33 to add cushion and push the lead to 5-3 and
Sara Cooney sealed it with an empty-net goal at 16:33.
In net,
Addie Oettinger turned aside 39 shots to anchor the win as Concordia held a 42-37 edge in shots on goal.
The Wildcats will face the Cobbers again on Saturday in Moorhead with a start time of 2 pm.
