The first period was scoreless, with St. Kate's generating chances early and earning the game's first power play after a hooking call at 8:24. The Wildcats fired off ten shots to the Gusties eleven in the first period but the game remained 0-0 after 20 minutes.
The game swung quickly in the second. Gustavus opened scoring at 8:36 and again at 10:09 to make it a 2-0 game. Just 57 seconds later, they struck again converting an extra-attacker situation to push the lead to 3-0.
St. Catherine had a chance to get momentum back when a delay of game penalty awarded Gustavus a penalty shot, but
Lea Grassia made the stop to keep it a three-goal game.
St. Kate's continued to battle in the third, including another power play at 3:36 but couldn't find a breakthrough. Gustavus closed out scoring with three minutes remaining to make it a 4-0 final.
Grassia made 37 saves in net for the Wildcats while Myers had four shots on goal and
Isabella Brady followed with three.
St. Kate's is on the road next weekend traveling to Moorhead for a two-game MIAC series against Concordia College.
