ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team jumped out early but couldn't hold the lead as Saint Benedict rallied for a 2-1 conference win on Saturday evening in St. Cloud.
The Wildcats struck first t 3:30 in the opening period when
Ana Myers finished an even strength chance for her 13th goal of the season, giving St. Kate's a 1-0 edge. Saint Benedict answered in the second, tying the game at 5:51, making it 1-1.
With the game still locked 1-1 late in the third, the Bennies found the difference-maker at 18:14 scoring the game-winning goal.
St. Kate's was outshot 23-12, with sophomore
Addie Oettinger recording 21 saves. Myers led with three shots with
Halle Dunleavy blocked three shots as the Wildcats battled to the final horn.
St. Kate's is on the road Friday traveling to Saint Peter for game one of the MIAC series with Gustavus Adolphus. They return to Drake Arena on Saturday, January 24 at 2 pm.
