ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University basketball team dropped a tight MIAC match up Saturday afternoon a
Butler Center, falling 53-40 to Gustavus Adolphus. The loss puts the Wildcats at 6-7 with a conference record of 1-5.
St. Kate's was right there through three quarters, tied 15-15 after one, up 23-22 at the half, and still within two heading into the fourth but Gustavus closed the game with a decisive 15-2 final quarter to pull away.
St. Catherine got early rhythm from the perimeter knocking down three triples in the opening quarter.
Jordyn Peed finished with a team high 11 points, while
Hattie Fox added ten and eight rebounds.
Raya Cassidy chipped in nine, including a pair of free throws to put the Wildcats back in from late in the second quarter. Defensively, the Wildcats created chances with ten steals but recorded 20 turnovers.
St. Kate's is on the road on Wednesday traveling to the College of Saint Benedict for a 7 pm MIAC match up. They return to
Butler Center on Saturday, January 17 hosting Saint Mary's University at 1 pm.
