MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University soccer team extended its strong start to the season with a 2-0 road win over conference foe, Augsburg University on Saturday at Edor Nelson Field. The victory moved St. Kate's to 8-1 overall with a 3-0 conference record.Â
The Wildcats struck twice in the first half to seize control. In the 13th minute, Bella Meier finished off a pass from Emily Olson to open the scoring. Just eight minutes later, Natalie Pfleger buried a penalty kick to double the lead.
From there, the Wildcat defense took over, holding Augsburg to just five total shots and one on frame. Goalkeeper Brianna Valdez made a first-half save and earned the shutout in her 90 minutes of action.
St. Kate's finished with a 16–5 edge in shots led by Meier with five and three on net.Â
St. Kate's is at Hamline University on Wednesday for a 4 pm conference match and returns home for a 1 pm match against Carlton College on Saturday, October 4.Â
