ST. PAUL, Minn. — St. Catherine University graduate-student Kelsey Dorr has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships in Claremont, California, as an individual qualifier. The championships will include 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams, with Dorr earning her third bid to the singles championships in her career.
Dorr, representing the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), becomes the first Wildcat in program history to qualify for the national individual championships three times. Competing exclusively at No. 1 singles and doubles for St. Kate's, Dorr posted an impressive 14-4 record in dual matches, including a 9-1 mark in MIAC play. Her season was highlighted by a dramatic three-set victory over a regionally ranked opponent from Gustavus Adolphus, along with key conference wins against players from Bethel and Carleton. Dorr's consistency and leadership helped guide the Wildcats to one of their strongest seasons in recent memory.
She was ranked No. 12 in the ITA Central Region singles rankings as of April 4 and was named MIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week on April 15 after a 3-0 performance that included a straight-sets win over Macalester's top player.
If any singles player or doubles team withdraws from the tournament, alternates will be selected in the published order. The draw for the individual championships will be released by the NCAA women's tennis committee on May 23 at 1 p.m. Eastern time.
The NCAA Division III team championships are scheduled for May 20–23, followed by the individual championships from May 24–27 at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges.
In 2024, Rena Lin of the University of Chicago claimed the singles title, while Babson's Matia Cristiani and Olivia Soffer took the doubles crown. The University of Chicago is the reigning national team champion, having defeated Wesleyan (CT) 5–3 in last year's final.
