NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team ended the 2024-25 season in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Quarterfinals falling 4-3 to the No. 4 seed St. Olaf College Oles. The Wildcats end the season 13-6 for the team's best overall record since the 2012-13 season.
The Wildcats came out strong in doubles, capturing two of the three matches to secure the opening point. At No. 2, Faith Simon and Erica Wing clawed out a 7-5 victory as Monica Zink and Ashley King claimed the No. 3 doubles match 6-3. St. Olaf claimed the No. 1 doubles match defeating Kelsey Dorr and Caitlyn Stadter, 6-2.Â
The No. 4 singles match was the first to end with the Oles defeating Zink 6-3, 6-1. Marie Pelliteir followed with a win at No. 6 by a score of 6-4, 6-1 just before St. Kate's claimed the lead again. Dorr picked up a decisive win at No. 1 singles by a score of 6-4, 6-0.Â
Simon appeared in the No. 2 singles match falling 6-1, 0-6, 2-6 and Stadter battled at No. 3 singles dropping the match 3-6, 6-4, 4-6. The final battle of the contest was at No. 5 singles with Liliana Holmberg fighting to the last moment but conceding by a score of 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 6-7 (7-0).Â
