ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team closed out the regular season with a 6-3 defeat of the Hamline University Pipers on Friday afternoon in St. Paul. The Wildcats conference victory earning them a spot in the MIACÂ post season with a record of 6-4 and an overall standing of 13-5.Â
St. Kate's took two of the three doubles matches, taking No. 1 doubles as Kelsey Dorr and Caitlyn Stadter won 8-1 and the No. 3 team of Monica Zink and Ashley King won 8-4. The Pipers earned one doubles point taking the No. 2 doubles match over Faith Simon and Erica Wing by a score of 8-6.Â
In singles, SCU clinched wins at the top three spots, with Dorr, Simon, and Stadter all winning. Dorr took No. 1 6-4, 6-0 ,Simon won both sets 6-1 and Stadter added a point at 6-2, 6-3.  The final point of the match for St. Kate's was at No. 5 singles as Liliana Holmberg took the match 6-2, 6-3. Zink fell in a tiebreaker taking set one 6-2 before falling 6-3 at No. 4 and Marie Pelliter battled to a 6-4, 3-6, 0-1 result at No. 6 singles.Â
St. Kate's will wait to learn their opponent in the first round of the MIAC Playoff Tournament which is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30.Â
