MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University softball team split wins at Augsburg University falling in game one before dominating the second in five innings. Game one ended with a 4-0 win for the Auggies before St. Kate's turned around game two by a score of 10-2 in five innings. St. Kate's is 17-21 overall with a 9-11 MIAC record and two regular season games remaining.
GAME ONE | Augsburg 4, St. Catherine 0
Augsburg held St. Catherine scoreless in a 4–0 victory, capitalizing on timely hits and solid defense. The Auggies offense put up their first run in the bottom of the first before adding insurance with a two-run homer in the third. They added one final run in the fifth inning as the Wildcats were unable to take advantage of the five hits in the game.
GAME TWO | St. Catherine 10, Augsburg 2 (5 innings)
Mayci Larson turned things around right away in game two with her first career home run as the second at bat. St. Kate's added two more runs in the top of the second, three more in the thrid and sealed the win with a four run fourth inning against the Auggies. First-year
Faith Bonse collected her second home run of the season scoring the team's fourth run.
Larson was 2 for four with one run and two RBI's while
Kylee Kohout, Annie Cook, and
Sam Aronson each had two hit, two runs and one RBI.
Alexa Carlstrom earned the win in the circle pitching five innings with five strikeouts allowing just two runs in the bottom of the second.
The Wildcats travel to Concordia College in Moorhead on Saturday for their final MIAC doubleheader of the season. The team is currently seventh in the MIAC standings while four more games played than Gustavus Adolphus sitting at 8-8 in sixth.
