MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University softball team closed out the regular season with split wins against the Concordia College Cobbers on Saturday falling in game one 4-0 before securing an 8-0 victory in game two.
GAME ONE | Concordia 4, St. Catherine 0
The Cobbers capitalized on key moments to top St. Catherine, 4–0. Concordia scored one unearned run in the second and added two more in the fourth, then tacked on another in the sixth.
Sarah Christy pitched the first five innings striking out five Cobbers with
Alexa Carlstrom coming in the final inning striking out one.
GAME TWO | St. Catherine 8, Concordia 0
St. Catherine jumped out early with a three-run first inning and never looked back, rolling to an 8–0 win over the Cobbers. Annie Cook,
Faith Bonse and
Mayci Larson led the offense, combining for big hits early and helping tack on insurance runs late. Bonse tallied her third homer of the season securing the teams second and third runs driving in Larson. The Wildcats' eight runs came from seven different players as Cook tallied two hitting 2 for 3 with two RBI. Bonse went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI while getting walked once.
Carlstrom earned her sixth win of the season pitching a complete game allowing just three hits while striking out five.
The MIAC regular season concludes for the Wildcats as the rest of the conference closes out their schedules this upcoming week. St. Kate's currently sits seventh in the MIAC standings behind Gustavus who has four games left on their schedule with a 9-9 conference record.
