ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University softball team collected two MIAC wins on Sunday afternoon taking the first game 4-2 and game two 2-1. St. Kate's improves to 13-15 overall with an MIAC record of 5-5.
GAME ONE | St. Catherine 4, Hamline 2
St. Catherine rallied in the fourth inning and never looked back. After trailing 2–0 through three innings, the Wildcats capitalized on a error to spark a three-run frame, highlighted by aggressive baserunning that saw Annie Cook and
Sam Aronson steal home.
Grace Swigart added insurance with a solo homer in the fifth.
Sarah Christy started the game in the circle pitching three innings and striking out one.
Alexa Carlstrom finished the game the final four innings allowing four hits and zero runs.
GAME TWO | St. Catherine 2, Hamline 1 (8 innings)
Hamline struck first in the fifth inning, scoring an unearned run to break a scoreless tie. But the Wildcats responded in the sixth, tying the game on an RBI single by
Faith Bonse after capitalizing on a Hamline error.
The deadlock continued into the eighth inning, when Sydney Colbert—pinch running for Carlstrom—advanced to third and scored on a two-out RBI single from G. Swigart. Bonse followed with another hit, and though a baserunning miscue ended the inning, the damage was done.Carlstrom took the win in the circle again in game two pitching the complete game.
St. Kate's will host Bethel University on Wednesday, April 16 before traveling to Duluth to face St. Scholastica .
