ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University softball team dropped two MIAC games to the College of Saint Benedict in St. Paul on Saturday afternoon. The Bennies took game one 6-0 before claiming the second 12-1. St. Kate's is now 11-15 with a conference record of 3-5.
GAME ONE | Saint Benedict 6, St. Catherine 0
Saint Benedict controlled the game from the second inning on, scoring early with an RBI triple and adding insurance with a four-run surge in the seventh. St. Kate's struggled to get anything going offensively, managing just two hits and striking out nine times.
GAME TWO | Saint Benedict 12, St. Catherine 1 (5 innings)
St. Kate's broke through in the fifth with an RBI single from H. McKinnon, but it wasn't enough to overcome a dominant offensive display from Saint Benedict. CSB jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first and poured on seven more in the third, fueled by clutch hits from the Bennies. Despite a late push, St. Catherine fell 12–1.
St. Kate's will face the Hamline University Pipers on Sunday, April 13, with a doubleheader scheduled for 1 and 3 pm. The Wildcats return home on Wednesday, April 16, to host Bethel University for Mental Health Awareness Day.
