MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team earned a commanding MIAC win over the Macalester College Scots on Friday evening. The 8-1 victory was played at Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota improving the Wildcats' record to 5-1 with an MIAC record of 2-1.
St. Kate's took all three points from doubles competition winning with
Kelsey Dorr and
Caitlyn Stadter defeating the Scots No. 1 team 8-4. The Wildcats won the other two doubles matches by a score of 8-1. At No. 2 was
Faith Simon and
Monica Zink while
Ashley King and
Erica Wing were the winners at No. 3 doubles.
In singles competition, Dorr won at No. 1 by a score of 6-2, 6-2 and Stradter won at No. 3 6-0, 6-0. Zink and
Liliana Holmberg won at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, 6-0 and 6-1. In the Wildcats final point,
Marie Pelletier claimed the No. 6 match 6-1, 6-3. Macalester claimed the No. 2 singles match over Simon by a score of 6-4, 6-3.
St. Kate's will travel to Orlando, Florida next week for their annual spring break trip. They will face Piedmont University on March 11, Sweet Briar College on the 12th and close out the week against Minnesota State University Moorhead March 13.
