KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The St. Catherine University softball team closed out their spring break series dropping two games on Friday morning in Kissimmee. St. Kate's closes out the trip with a record of 4-2 for an overall record of 7-5 falling to Loras College 2-0 before dropping game two 6-4.
GAME ONE | Loras 2, St. Catherine 0
St. Kate's fought hard in a defensive showdown against Loras, keeping the game within reach throughout all seven innings. The Wildcats' pitching and fielding held strong, limiting Loras to just two runs, despite a few defensive miscues. St. Kate's put runners on base in the third and sixth innings, showing signs of an offensive spark, but couldn't quite push a run across. Though the bats struggled, the Wildcats' resilience on defense was evident, making key plays to stay in the game.
Hannah Bernier took the loss in the circle recording six strikeouts and allowing just one earned run in seven innings.
GAME TWO | Catholic 6, St. Catherine 4
St. Catherine put up a fight again in their matchup against Catholic, igniting their offense in the fifth inning with a four-run surge.
Faith Bonse and
Sam Aronson set the stage before Kylee. Kohout's well-placed bunt forced a defensive error, bringing in two runs.
Helen McKinnon followed with a clutch two-RBI single, giving the Wildcats a 4-0 lead. Despite Catholic's late-inning rally, St. Kate's never backed down, staying aggressive on the basepaths and battling to the final out.
Sarah Christy pitched 5.2 innings for the Wildcat recording two strikeouts in 25 batters faced.
Taylor Graf finished the game giving up the final three runs to take the loss with one strikeout and one hit allowed.
St. Kate's will face Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa on Sunday, March 23 with the double header scheduled for a 1:30 pm start.
