OWATONNA, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team took their first loss of the season falling to conference foe, St. Olaf College, 6-3. The Wildcats are 4-1 with a MIAC record of 1-1 as the Oles remain undefeated at 5-0, 2-0 MIAC.
St. Olaf won two of the three doubles matches on Saturday afternoon taking the No. 1 match from
Kelsey Dorr and
Caitlyn Stadter, 8-5. They also edged out
Faith Simon and
Monica Zink at No. 2 8-6. The first point of the match however was scored by St. Kate's No. 3 doubles team
Ashley King and
Erica Wing who won 8-4.
Dorr won the No. 1 singles match to earn St. Kate's second point by a score of 6-0, 6-2 after Simon retired from her match at No. 2 singles.
Liliana Holmberg's match at No. 5 singles finished 6-1, 6-1 in favor of the Oles just before
Marie Pelletier scored the final point for St. Kate's at No. 6, 6-4, 6-1. Stradter fell at No. 3 6-2, 6-4 and Zink was defeated at No. 4 in a tiebreaker set.
St. Kate's is back on the court Friday, March 7 as they face Macalester College at 6:30 pm.
