ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The St. Catherine University softball team went 1-1 on Sunday in St. Louis downing Coe 3-0 before falling to Washington University, St. Louis 9-3. St. Kate's finished the weekend 2-2 to start off the 2025 season.
GAME ONE | St. Catherine 3, Coe 0
St. Catherine took control early, scoring two runs in the second inning off an RBI double by
Sam Aronson. The Wildcats added another run in the third with an RBI double from
Faith Bonse, extending their lead to 3-0. Strong pitching and defense kept Coe off the scoreboard, despite a late threat in the seventh. St. Catherine secured the 3-0 victory, allowing just three hits while stranding six Coe runners on base.
Sarah Christy earned the win in the circle facing 26 batters and striking out six.
GAME TWO | WashU 9, St. Catherine 3
WashU jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first and added to their advantage throughout the game. St. Kate's rallied for three runs in the sixth but couldn't close the gap. A two-run double in the seventh sealed the Bears 9-3 victory. Rookie pitcher
Hannah Bernier took the loss pitching 4 innings allowing five runs before
Taylor Graf closed out the game striking out four of the 15 batters faced.
St. Kate's will travel to Rochester on Saturday, March 1 facing Luther College and the University of Northwestern.
