MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team swept the University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars at Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The non-conference defeat puts St. Kate's at 2-0 so far on the season.
The match opened with doubles play as
Kelsey Dorr and
Caitlyn Stadter defeated the Cougars No. 1 doubles team.
Faith Simon and
Monica Zink played at No. 2 doubles with a 6-0 victory securing the doubles point.
Ashley King and
Erica Wing went on to claim the No. 3 match 6-0 for the doubles sweep.
At No. 6 singles,
Marie Pelletier won her match 6-2, 6-3 and
Liliana Holmberg won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Zink defeated Morris' No. 4 player 6-1, 6-0. Dorr and Stadter each won 6-0, 6-0 playing No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively and Simon took the sixth singles point by scores of 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2.
The Wildcats will host Martin Luther College on Friday, February 21 at 6 pm before opening the MIAC season hosting Concordia College Saturday, February 22 at 5 pm.
