ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The St. Catherine University basketball team turned around a slow start to turn a 12 point deficit at the half into a nine point victory over the Augustana College 67-58. The win puts St. Kate's at 4-2 overall and will face Concordia University, Wisconsin on Saturday for the Hyatt Place Tournament title game.
After shooting cold and trailing 33–21 at the break, the Wildcats came out of halftime with urgency and energy, blitzing the Vikings with a 26–11 third quarter to grab momentum and the lead. From there, St. Kate's controlled tempo, tightened defensively, and closed the door at the free-throw line — finishing 19-of-22 at the stripe.
Jordyn Peed led the charge with 18 points, including a pivotal three during the comeback run.
Elle Covey added 13 points, while
Lily Peper posted 10 points and 9 boards, anchoring a 40-rebound showing.
Hattie Fox chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds.
St. Kate's forced 15 turnovers, turned them into points, and outworked Augustana in transition and on the glass — proving to be the difference in a tale of two halves.
St. Kate's will take on the Concordia University, Wisconsin Falcons on Saturday at Augustana College with tip scheduled for 4:15 pm.
