ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- St. Catherine battled through a slow-shooting afternoon and a back-and-forth fourth quarter to earn a gritty 52–49 win over Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday, improving to 5–2 on the season. The win also earned the Wildcats the title of 2025 Hyatt Place Tournament Champions after defeating tournament host, Augustana College on Friday evening, 67-58.
After falling behind 19–12 in the opening quarter, the Wildcats slowly chipped away, finding momentum in the second frame with timely threes and defensive stops to pull within one at halftime, 28–27. The third quarter stayed tight, with both teams trading short runs and neither leading by more than six. Entering the final 10 minutes, Concordia Wisconsin held a narrow 39–35 advantage.
The fourth quarter belonged to the Wildcats. St. Catherine forced turnovers, controlled second-chance opportunities, and made their way to the free-throw line—where they ultimately secured the win. With under four minutes to play, the Wildcats tied the game and then surged ahead, sealing the result at the stripe in the closing seconds as the Falcons attempted a late push.
Hattie Fox delivered 26 points, including 12-for-12 from the free-throw line, and added nine rebounds and two steals in 38 minutes and
Jordyn Peed came up big with nine points and nine rebounds. The Wildcats finished with 38 boards and forced 19 turnovers, turning defensive pressure into 24 points.
St. Kate's will travel to River Falls, Wisconsin on Tuesday, November 25 for a non-conference game against Wisconsin-River Falls.
