Wildcats weather storm shutting out Saints

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Catherine University soccer team continued its strong conference form on Tuesday afternoon, earning a 3-0 victory over St. Scholastica at St. Kate's Field. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 11–2 overall and 6–1 in MIAC play, posting their seventh shutout of the season.

St. Kate's took command early, peppering the Saints' goalkeeper with quality chances. Senior Ashley Fugitt opened the scoring in the eighth minute, capitalizing inside the box for her sixth goal of the year. The Wildcats doubled their lead in the 22nd minute when Bella Meier found the back of the net off an assist from Emily Olson, marking Meier's team-leading ninth goal this season.

Goalkeeper Brianna Valdez turned aside several first-half shots to preserve the 2–0 lead at halftime, finishing with five saves in the opening frame. The Wildcats sealed the match in the 89th minute as Katie McGrath slotted home her second goal of the season, assisted by Lillia Gray.

Next up for St. Kate's is Senior Day on Sunday, October 19 with the Wildcats hosting the University of Wisconsin-Superior at 1 pm.
