ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Cathrine University basketball team dropped a heart breaker to the No. 6 ranked Gustavus Adolphus Golden Gusties on Saturday afternoon falling by eleven. The 52-41 conference game puts St. Kate's at 6-5 overall with a MIAC record of 1-3.
Hattie Fox led the Wildcats with eleven points and seven rebounds plus three steals followed by
Emme Golembiewski delivering six points and five boards to go with her one block and one steal.
St. Kate's held their own in the first quarter taking an early lead before the Gusties inched back to tie it at 14-14 after ten minutes. The second period went in favor of Gustavus though as they added 13 to St. Kate's six leading by seven headed into the half.
The Wildcats led in the third adding 12 points led by
Maddie Young and
Jordyn Peed each adding three. St. Kate's was able to get within four with under six minutes to play in the game but the Gusties fought back in the final minutes for the 52-41 Wildcat loss.
St. Kate's will travel to Concordia College in Moorhead on Wednesday evening for a MIAC match up at 7 pm. St. Kate's returns to Butler Center on Saturday, January 11 hosting the College of Saint Benedict at 3 pm.
