ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team dropped game two of the MIAC series with the College of Saint Benedict Bennies on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-1. The loss puts the Wildcats at 4-10-1 on the season with a MIAC standing of 2-6.
St. Kate's was off to a slow start allowing three goals in the opening period with one given up while on the penalty kill.
Ana Myers scored her 14th goal of the season tipping in St. Kate's lone goal while on a power play. The goal was the result of a pass from
Ellie Skaja to
Raechel Painovich at the point firing it to Myers in front of the net in the first minute of the second period.
The final goal of the game was scored on an empty net in the final two minutes of play for the 4-1 decision.
Junior
Anna Friendshuh made 22 saves in the game holding off the Bennies for over 40 minutes of play. Myers led the shot count with five shots on net followed by Painovich adding four.
St. Kate's returns to Drake Arena on Friday, January 24 hosting the No. 5 ranked Gustavus Adolphus College Golden Gusties at 7 pm.
