GRINNELL, Iowa -- The swimmers from St. Catherine University returned to competition on Friday evening in the annual Grinnell College Invite in Grinnell, Iowa. The Wildcats scored 171 points on the first day as St. Kate's is in seventh place as a team. Overall the Wildcats posted eleven career best swims led by junior
Nicolette Harvey recording four.
Finals opened with the 200-yard freestyle relay and the Wildcats' A relay team of
Jordyn Grotbo,
Natalie Chandler,
Emma Svendsen and
Ella Hochstetler were fourth overall with a time of 1:41.80.
Svendsen was the runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley posting a time of 2:13.62 and
Olivia Weil finished 12th with a time of 2:19.38 scoring nine points while Grotbo claimed three finishing 18th with a time of 2:25.33.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Hochstetler was the top finisher for St. Kate's with a finish of 5:34.10.
Shea Bradley also appeared in the distance event clocking in at 5:50.27.
Nicolette Harvey led the Wildcats in the 200-yard breaststroke finishing 18th touching the wall at 2:43.93 ahead of
Avery Doom at 2:44.30 and
Sierra Hermansen at 2:45.44.
Hochstetler was 17th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.36 while Grotbo finished 20th with a time of 56.66.
The teams best individual event of the night was in the 200-yard butterfly with four from St. Kate's scoring led by Svendsen with a second place time of 2:12.21. J. Dombroski finished seventh in the event with a time of 2:21.36 and Chandler was 15h in at 2:30.05. The fourth Wildcat in the top 20 was
Eloise McKeon finishing with a time of 2:44.52.
Day one concluded with the Wildcats A relay team of Hochstetler, Weil, Svendsen and Grotbo finished fourth in the 400-yard medley relay in at 4:07.87.
