MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University soccer team traveled to Augsburg University on Saturday evening facing the Auggies under the lights in a MIAC showdown. The two conference foes battled to a 1-1 tie on to move St. Kate's to 5-2-2 with a MIAC record of 2-0-1.
The first significant action came in the 16th minute when
Kate Praetz faced her first shot on goal before the Auggies found the back of the net in the 34th minute. St. Kate's tried to respond, but an offside call at the 35th minute halted the momentum to add to the multiple fouls late in the half.
The second half saw a swift shift in momentum as the Wildcats tied the contest just five minutes in. First-year
Lydia Benson fourth goal capitalizing on an assist form
Claire Cater and
Ali Owens.
Benson led the way for the Wildcats with two shots on net and four total while Cater delivered the Wildcats other shot on goal.
The Wildcats return to St. Paul to host the College of St. Scholastica at 4 pm.
