Volleyball drops two ranked matches at Faith Radio Invite

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team faced a pair of top 15 ranked teams on Saturday at the Faith Radio Triangular hosted at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. St. Kate's dropped the first match to the No. 5 ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titans before falling to No. 13 Northwestern-St. Paul Eagles. St. Kate's record is now 8-6 overall as they are set to open the conference season on Friday. 

MATCH ONE | UW-Oshkosh 3, St. Catherine 0
Junior Mallory Johnson led the way with seven kills in the first match hitting .227 and five blocks. Lexie Petrick recorded six kills with five digs and one ace. The Titans had 41 kills to St. Kate's 24 while dominating at the service line posting ten aces. 

MATCH TWO | Northwestern-St. Paul 3, St. Catherine 0
Johnson led te way again in match two with 12 kills as Petrick delivered seven with 12 digs. Emily Bredman posted seven kills hitting .278 with one block and two digs. The Eagles swept the Wildcats in straight sets with scores of 25-15, 25-13, and 26-24. Northwestern-St. Paul dominated the first two sets winning by margins of 10 and 12 points, respectively. 

St. Kate's fought back in the third set pushing the match to 26-24 but the Eagles held their ground edging out St. Kate's to secure the victory. 

St. Kate's returns to Butler Center on Friday, September 27 hosting Hamline University for their MIAC season opener.
