Owens puts Wildcats back on track with MIAC win over Saint Mary's

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University soccer team opened the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) season hosting the Cardinals from Saint Mary's University on Wednesday. The Wildcats shutout the Cardinals with a 1-0 victory to improve to 4-2 on the season. 

St. Kate's goal was scored by sophomore midfielder Ali Owens with help from first-year forward Emily Olson. Owens' goal was her first of the season in the seventh minute of play for her second career goal in her time at St. Kate's.

Fifth-year Kate Praetz tallied her third shutout of the season and 34th in her career making four saves in 90 minutes. 

St. Kate's travels to St. Olaf on Saturday facing the Oles at 1 pm in Northfield. They return to St. Kate's Field on Tuesday, October 1 hosting the College of St. Scholastica at 4 pm.
